Patwin

Most of southern Napa, including the city of Napa was Patwin from about 3,500 years ago. Everything we know is based on oral histories and archeological surveys. Indigenous people were driven out of the valley by force mostly in a devastating two decades. Today, most Patwin descendants are associated with the Cachil Dehe Band of Wintun Indians of the Colusa Indian Community, Kletsel Dehe Wintun Nation, and Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation none of which are in Napa Valley though this is their ancestral home.
